Description
The Dali Epicon Stand is a dedicated speaker stand, developed to accommodate exclusively the Epicon 2 speakers as well as the Epicon Vokal centre speaker. This is not a generic stand but an accessory designed in keeping with the Epicon range, both in terms of listening height and vibration management.
Its base is moulded from a particularly dense zinc alloy, which reinforces the inertia of the assembly and limits unwanted movement of the stand during listening. The column and footplate are made from aluminium, a choice that combines relative lightness with rigidity. Inside the stand, a rigid grid reinforces the structure to prevent internal vibrations from turning into audible sonic distortion. A rubber membrane is also inserted between the footplate and the column, adding a further level of vibrational decoupling between the floor and the speaker.
The stand also features an internal cable channel, allowing speaker cabling to be routed inside the column itself rather than outside, for a visually neater installation.
This stand is aimed at owners of Dali Epicon 2 speakers or an Epicon Vokal centre speaker wishing to install them under optimal conditions, with a listening height designed for these specific models and a base capable of absorbing vibrations rather than transmitting them to the floor or furniture.
What to check before buying used
The rubber membrane inserted between the footplate and the column may harden or compress over time, reducing the original vibrational decoupling: any play or metal-to-metal contact should be treated as a warning sign. Also check for signs of oxidation on the zinc base and for play in the column-to-footplate fixings, which are essential to the intended inertia. The internal cable channel is worth checking: previous cabling may have left marks from friction there or may make replacing the speaker cable more difficult.
