Description
The Dali Epicon 2 is a 2-way bookshelf speaker designed by Danish manufacturer Dali, positioned at the top of its range. Supplied with its dedicated stand, it constitutes a complete solution for a compact system without resorting to floorstanding speaker mounting.
The 165 mm woofer with wood fibre cone aims to limit the mechanical losses of the material to deliver more detail in the low-midrange. The 29 mm soft dome tweeter ensures wide horizontal dispersion and an airy rendering in the treble. The 87 dB sensitivity and the stated frequency response of 47 Hz to 30 kHz are accompanied by a recommended power of between 30 and 200 W, which allows it to be paired with amplifiers of various power outputs.
The cabinet is made of genuine wood veneer, hand-polished with ten layers of lacquer, here in the Ruby Macassar (Macassar ebony) finish, a dark and grained shade characteristic of this precious wood.

What to check before buying used
Check the flexibility of the woofer surrounds, which can harden or crack over time and affect the bass performance. Inspect the Ruby Macassar veneer on the corners and top of the cabinet, the areas most exposed to knocks and discolouration from light exposure. Also check the fixing and condition of the dedicated stands, whose base and plate should remain stable with no play.
