The Dali Oberon 1 is a compact bookshelf speaker, the smallest in the Oberon range. Its reduced footprint aims for a compromise between internal cabinet volume and discreet integration into a listening room, without requiring significant space.
It features an ultra-light 29 mm soft dome tweeter paired with a 5.25-inch wood fibre woofer using SMC technology, designed to reduce mechanical distortion at the driver motor. The sensitivity of 86 dB/1W/1m and the nominal impedance of 6 ohms place this speaker within a recommended amplification range of 25 W to 100 W. The frequency response extends from 51 Hz to 26 kHz, with a bass-reflex tuning at 50 Hz and a crossover frequency at 2.8 kHz between the woofer and the tweeter. What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the wood fibre woofer's suspension: sagging or unusual stiffness indicates ageing that affects the bass and bass-reflex tuning. Inspect the tweeter dome, which is very thin and fragile, for deformation or perforation caused by impact. Also examine the cabinet (veneer, corners, bass-reflex port) for knocks, signs of moisture or delamination, and listen to each speaker separately to check for any tonal imbalance between the two units of the pair.
