Description
The Oberon On-Wall is a 2-way on-wall speaker from Dali, designed to be mounted directly against a wall while retaining a compact footprint. Its distinctive feature is a downward-firing bass-reflex port, which uses the wall surface as a reflector to reinforce bass output without the need for a bulky enclosure. It is suited to both stereo configurations and surround systems.
The 5¼-inch woofer employs a fine-grain wood fibre paper cone, paired with a low-loss surround and a spider suspension. This combination aims for faithful reproduction of the midrange and bass frequencies, with a cone structure that is both rigid and lightweight. The large 29 mm soft dome tweeter is able to generate high sound pressure with limited voice coil excursion, contributing to an extended frequency response and wide sound dispersion, including off-axis.
The cabinet is built from high-density CNC-machined MDF and finished in vinyl, with internal bracing intended to limit resonances. An acoustic damping material is applied to the sides, top and bottom of the cabinet, in order to improve the interaction between the woofer and the bass port.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the wood fibre woofer cone, which can warp or crack over time, as well as the flexibility of the spider suspension. The tweeter dome, being particularly thin, deserves close inspection for any signs of denting or tearing. It is also useful to check the vinyl finish of the cabinet, which is sensitive to impacts and humidity, and to ensure that the downward-firing bass port system has not been obstructed or damaged by a previous wall mounting.
