Description
The Dali Opticon 2 is a 2-way bookshelf speaker in bass-reflex format, combining a 16.5 cm woofer with wood fibre cone and a 28 mm textile dome tweeter. This compact format allows for greater cabinet volume and power than a smaller model in the same range, while retaining a size suited to installation in a living room.
The speaker incorporates SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) technology, a system patented by Dali and originally developed for its Epicon range. Its low electrical conductivity limits distortion phenomena, which translates into a more controlled sound, particularly on dynamic passages. The frequency response extends from 59 Hz to 26.5 kHz, with a bass-reflex tuning at 46.5 Hz, and the crossover cuts at 2 kHz between the woofer and the tweeter. With a sensitivity of 87 dB/w/m and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, it can deliver a maximum sound level of 107 dB.
This model is intended for use as a main speaker or as a complement to a hi-fi system, for demanding listening in both music and versatile use. The recommended placement, between 2 and 80 cm from the rear wall, offers a degree of installation flexibility depending on the room configuration.

What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the 16.5 cm woofer's suspension: a hardened, cracked or detached foam surround or gasket affects bass performance and may require reconditioning. Also inspect the cabinet (corners, veneer, bass-reflex port) for impact marks or signs of moisture, and check by touch that the tweeter's textile dome is not dented or deformed. A test at moderate volume allows you to detect any parasitic noise or abnormal distortion on dynamic passages.
