Description
The Dali Opticon LCR MKII is an on-wall speaker with an ultra-slim cabinet, designed for discreet installation while retaining the sonic qualities of the Opticon MKII range. Its LCR designation (Left, Center, Right) indicates its primary purpose: it can occupy the centre or side position of a system, but can also serve as a rear speaker in a home cinema configuration. This versatility makes it a model capable of integrating into a classic stereo system as well as a multichannel installation.
The central technical feature of this speaker is its hybrid tweeter, which combines a 29 mm soft dome derived from the Callisto range with a 17 x 45 mm ribbon, mounted on a moulded aluminium front plate. This combination aims to bring together the speed and dynamics typical of a dome with the level of detail and refinement characteristic of a ribbon tweeter, while optimising control of sound dispersion. The frequency response extends from 70 Hz to 30 kHz, with filter crossover frequencies at 2.8 kHz and 14 kHz. The sensitivity of 89 dB/W/m and the nominal impedance of 4 ohms define amplification requirements to be taken into account, with a power handling of between 30 and 150 watts and a maximum sound level of 109 dB.
The magnetic motor uses an SMC material with high magnetic permeability and low electrical conductivity, intended to limit eddy currents in the pole piece. This design seeks to improve the linearity of the magnetic flux and reduce hysteresis, with the aim of reducing the electro-acoustic distortion of the driver.

What to check before buying used
The ribbon of the hybrid tweeter is a sensitive point: it is advisable to check for muffled sound, distortion or silence in the treble, as this component is fragile and costly to replace on its own. An inspection of the moulded aluminium front plate and the woofer suspensions is also required, looking for impacts, cracks or sagging that could affect sound quality. As the ultra-slim cabinet is intended for wall mounting, the condition of the inserts or mounting points on the rear of the speaker should also be checked.
