Description
The Opticon Vokal MKII is a centre speaker designed by Dali to integrate into a 2.1 audio system or a home cinema setup made up of speakers from the Opticon MK2 range. Its function is to reproduce dialogue and voice with clarity within the soundtrack of a film or programme.
The speaker adopts a 2.5-way configuration combining a 16.5 cm woofer with a wood fibre cone and SMC technology, a 17x45 mm ribbon tweeter and a 29 mm textile dome tweeter: this hybrid tweeter module aims for precise reproduction of sound detail without harshness. Frequency response extends from 47 Hz to 30 kHz, with a bass-reflex tuning at 44 Hz provided by a dual laminar vent forward-facing enclosure, which allows placement flush against a wall or within a cabinet. With a sensitivity of 88 dB/W/m, a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a power handling of 30 to 150 watts, it can deliver a maximum sound level of 109 dB. The crossover frequencies are set at 2.4 kHz and 14 kHz.
This centre speaker is aimed at home cinema enthusiasts wishing to complete a Dali Opticon MK2 installation with a coherent centre channel, capable of delivering deep bass while preserving voice intelligibility. Its design allows for several installation modes: against a wall, above or below a television, or hidden within a hi-fi cabinet.

What to check before buying used
On this centre speaker, check the condition of the suspensions of the 16.5 cm woofer as well as the tweeter's textile dome, which may stiffen or deform over time. Also examine the ribbon tweeter, which is more fragile than a conventional dome and sensitive to impact or exposure to humidity. Finally, check for the absence of oxidation marks on the connection terminals and any abnormal play in the internal crossover.
