Description
The Dali Phantom E-60 is an in-wall/in-ceiling speaker designed to be built into a wall or ceiling, with an open back mounting design. Its compact format allows for discreet installation, without a cabinet or stand, in a living room, living space or any installation where visual aesthetics must remain understated.
It combines a 165 mm bass-midrange driver with a polypropylene cone and a 28 mm textile dome tweeter, centred above the woofer. This two-way configuration covers a stated bandwidth of 52 to 25,000 Hz, with a crossover set at 3300 Hz that shares the work between the two drivers. The 88 dB sensitivity and 8 ohm nominal impedance allow for use with moderate power amplifiers, with a power handling of between 30 and 120 W and a maximum sound pressure level reaching 104 dB.
With a diameter of 258 mm for a depth of 99 mm, and a required cutout of 225 mm in diameter, the Phantom E-60 is aimed at those seeking discreet sound reproduction in the home, in multichannel home cinema or as supplementary sound reinforcement, where the speaker needs to visually disappear while retaining an extended frequency response.

What to check before buying used
On this open back in-wall model, there is no cabinet as such: instead, check the condition of the basket and the finishing grille, which often show impact marks or paint residue from a previous installation. Check the suspension of the 165 mm woofer as well as the tweeter's textile dome, which is fragile if it has been touched with a finger. Also ensure that the cutouts have not been enlarged, as this would complicate a clean reinstallation within a 225 mm diameter.
