Description
The Dali Phantom E80 is an in-wall speaker designed to disappear into the décor while still providing quality sound reproduction. It is fitted to a wall or recessed into a ceiling thanks to its Open Back mounting, with no closed rear enclosure. Its versatility allows it to take on several roles within an audio system: front, centre, rear or surround speaker.
It pairs a 203 mm woofer with a polypropylene cone with a centred 28 mm textile dome tweeter, with a crossover frequency set at 3200 Hz. What to check before buying used
On this open-back model, check the condition of the 203 mm woofer's suspension and ensure the polypropylene cone shows no deformation following storage in a humid environment. Also check the 28 mm tweeter's textile dome, which is prone to dents and handling marks at the centre of the diaphragm. Inspect the grille and chassis around the 261 mm cut-out, as an in-wall mounting that has not been properly removed often leaves marks or cracks on the surrounding woodwork. Finally, test both channels separately to rule out a fault with the 3200 Hz crossover.
