Description
The Rubicon 2 is a bookshelf speaker from Dali, designed as a 2-way configuration with Bass-reflex loading. Its compact format makes it suitable for placement on a dedicated speaker stand or on furniture, in a lounge or a moderately sized listening room, as part of a stereo system or a home cinema setup.
The 16.5 cm woofer/midrange driver uses a wood fibre cone, a light and rigid diaphragm designed to limit surface resonances and behave as a piston across its entire operating range. It is paired with a 29 mm textile dome tweeter, responsible for reproducing the treble. The whole design relies on SMC technology, a distortion-reduction system unique to Dali. What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the 16.5 cm driver's suspension: sagging or hardening of the foam or rubber affects bass performance and can cause audible rubbing. Also inspect the tweeter's textile dome, prone to dents and tears, as well as the cabinet (corners, veneer, bass-reflex port) for knocks, chips or signs of moisture. A test at moderate volume across the full frequency range will help detect any unwanted noise or distortion indicating a worn crossover or voice coil.
