Dali Rubicon 8C+

The Rubicon 8C+ is an active 3-way floorstanding speaker, designed by Dali to integrate amplification and wireless audio reception directly into the cabinet. Paired with the Sound Hub and the NPM2I module, it allows music to be streamed without going through an external amplifier or player, while retaining the drivers and cabinet construction of the original passive Rubicon range.

The acoustic configuration is based on three 16.5 cm woofers with wood fibre cones, a 45 x 17 mm ribbon tweeter and a 29 mm textile dome tweeter, all housed in a bass-reflex enclosure tuned to 33.5 Hz. The crossover combines 24-bit DSP digital processing in Full Active mode with an all-analogue passive section, spread across four crossover frequencies: 500 Hz, 800 Hz, 2.6 kHz and 14 kHz. Digital-to-analogue conversion relies on a Burr Brown PCM1796 DAC with balanced output. Frequency response extends from 38 Hz to 34 kHz, with a sensitivity of 90.5 dB /w/m, a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a maximum sound level of 112 dB. Wireless reception is HD on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, with WiFi streaming up to 24-bit / 96 kHz via the Dali Sound Hub.

This model is aimed at a listener seeking a compact Hi-Fi installation in terms of electronic footprint, capable of filling a generously sized room thanks to its three woofers, without multiplying amplifiers, DACs and cabling. The floorstanding format and the weight of 27.8 kg per unit suit a fixed stereo installation rather than portable use.
