Description
The Rubikore 2 is a 2-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker, designed by Dali within its Rubikore range. It combines a 165 mm woofer and a 29 mm soft dome tweeter to reproduce the full audible spectrum, with crossover handled at a fixed frequency of 2.8 kHz.
The woofer uses a Clarity Cone, made from wood fibres, paired with SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) technology, which aims to reduce distortion in the magnetic motor. The tweeter, for its part, does without ferrofluid, a choice that affects the dynamic response of the top of the spectrum. What to check before buying used
The Clarity Cone woofer's suspension deserves close inspection: look for cracks or tears around the edge of the cone after several years of use. Also check for any play or unwanted noise from the tweeter's soft dome, which lacks ferrofluid and is therefore more sensitive to impact. Finally, inspect the cabinet (corners, veneer, bass-reflex port) to rule out any signs of damp or impact that could have affected the enclosure's internal volume.
