Description
The Sonik 1 is a two-way bookshelf speaker designed by Dali to take up minimal space while ensuring careful sound reproduction. Its compact format allows it to be placed on a shelf, mounted on a stand or fitted to a wall, making it suitable for setups where space is a constraint.
It combines a 29 mm textile dome tweeter with a 13.3 cm woofer featuring an SMC wood fibre cone and Clarity Cone technology, all mounted in a reinforced MDF cabinet. The loading is bass-reflex with Dual Flare technology, an architecture designed to limit air turbulence in the port for cleaner bass reproduction despite the small cabinet volume. The frequency response extends from 51 Hz to 26 kHz (+/- 3 dB), with a crossover point of 2.8 kHz between the two drivers.
With a sensitivity of 86 dB/w/m and a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, the Sonik 1 accepts a recommended amplification power of between 25 and 100 W, making it compatible with integrated amplifiers or home cinema systems of modest to medium power. The stated maximum sound level is 106 dB.
This speaker format is suited to listening in a small or medium-sized room, in a stereo configuration for music or as satellite speakers within a home cinema system. Its compact size and dimensions of 162 x 274 x 231 mm make it a suitable option for a study, bedroom or modestly sized living room.

What to check before buying used
On a compact bookshelf speaker such as the Sonik 1, the surround of the 13.3 cm woofer deserves close inspection: hardened or cracked foam or rubber affects bass reproduction and points to prolonged storage in a humid environment. The tweeter dome should also be checked, as it is easily dented during a move, along with the condition of the Dual Flare ports to ensure no foreign object is obstructing airflow. Finally, the MDF cabinet and veneer should be inspected at the corners and near the wall-mounting points, areas sensitive to knocks and moisture.
