Description
The Sonik 3 is a 2-way bookshelf speaker designed by Dali. Compact, it fits on a dedicated stand, a shelf or built into a cabinet, while retaining a refined sound reproduction. Its design combines a woofer and a textile dome tweeter, engineered to deliver a balanced response across the audible spectrum.
The 17.78 cm woofer relies on a Clarity Cone diaphragm made of wood fibres, combined with SMC technology. The 29 mm textile dome tweeter completes the setup for treble reproduction. The crossover frequency is set at 2.3 kHz, separating the two drive units. The loading is bass-reflex type with Dual Flare technology, and the cabinet is reinforced with MDF to limit enclosure resonances.
The frequency response ranges from 47 Hz to 26 kHz (+/- 3 dB), with a sensitivity of 87 dB/w/m and a nominal impedance of 6 ohms. The maximum sound level reaches 108 dB. The recommended amplifier power ranges from 25 to 150 W, allowing it to be paired with modest power amplifiers as well as more generous setups.

What to check before buying used
The woofer's suspension deserves close inspection: after several years, the foam surround can stiffen, crack or come away, which affects bass reproduction. Also check the condition of the tweeter dome, which is prone to dents or perforations from impact. The MDF cabinet should be inspected on the corners and the bass-reflex ports at the rear, common areas for chips or signs of moisture. A test at low then higher volume also helps detect any unwanted noise or distortion in the bass.
