Description
The Sonik 7 is a 2.5-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker, designed to equip medium to large rooms, for both music listening and home cinema setups. It is built on a reinforced MDF cabinet with metal decoupling feet, two elements that contribute to the mechanical stability of the speaker.
The bass section is handled by two 17.7 cm woofers with Clarity Cone diaphragms in wood fibre and SMC technology, paired with a bass-reflex loading using Dual Flare technology. The treble is handled by a hybrid array combining a 29 mm textile dome tweeter and a 17 x 45 mm planar magnetic ribbon tweeter, with filter crossover frequencies at 2.3 kHz and 14 kHz. The frequency response spans from 36 Hz to 26 kHz (+/- 3 dB), with a sensitivity of 88.5 dB /w/m and a nominal impedance of 6 ohms; maximum sound pressure level reaches 110 dB, with a recommended amplification power between 30 and 180 W.

What to check before buying used
On this model with dual woofers and hybrid ribbon/dome tweeter, the condition of the Clarity Cone diaphragms (cracks, deformation) should be checked, as well as the mobility of the ribbon tweeter, which is more fragile than a conventional dome. A test at moderate volume across the full frequency range will help detect any magnet detachment or crossover fault. Also check that the metal decoupling feet are securely fitted and complete.
