Description
The M-601 is a floorstanding speaker stand from Dali, designed to hold a bookshelf speaker mounted on a plinth. It combines a weighted glass base with an extruded aluminium pole, topped with a painted iron plate designed to support the speaker.
The base sits on a 12 mm thick matt-painted glass plate, whose purpose is to add mass and stability to the assembly. The extruded aluminium pole incorporates internal bracing that reinforces its rigidity and limits standing waves inside the tube, which helps reduce unwanted resonances that could colour the sound of the speaker placed on top.
The stand features adjustable spikes for precise levelling, including on thick carpet, as well as supplied soft rubber feet for decoupling on hard floors, wood or tiles. A cable management system runs through the pole: a 20 mm entry hole in the centre of the glass plate gives access to a termination hole located just below the top plate, allowing the speaker cable to be entirely concealed within the stand.
With a total height of 615 mm including spikes, the M-601 is designed to position the speaker at ear height in a seated listening position, an important point for sound image coherence in stereo listening.

What to check before buying used
Check that the weighted glass plate is not cracked or chipped along the edges, as this heavy base is prone to knocks during handling. Inspect the matt paint finish on the aluminium pole and the iron top plate, which is prone to chips and micro-scratches revealing intensive use. Make sure the adjustable spikes screw freely without sticking and that the original rubber feet are present, otherwise decoupling from the floor loses its effectiveness.
