Description
The Dali Sub V-16 F is an amplified subwoofer designed for demanding home cinema installations and multichannel audio systems. It features a 40 cm woofer paired with an internal 1500 W RMS Class D amplifier, controlled by DSP, with a stated peak power of 2500 W. Its role is to reproduce the lowest frequencies of the audio spectrum with high sound pressure and controlled distortion.
The frequency response ranges from 19 Hz to 200 Hz on line input (+/- 3 dB), and from 19 Hz to 500 Hz on LFE input, allowing use both as a complement to a stereo system and as a dedicated low-frequency channel in a home cinema system. The bass-reflex port is tuned to a frequency of 18 Hz, a setting typical of subwoofers oriented towards bass extension rather than pure speed. The active low-pass filter is adjustable from 40 to 200 Hz, allowing fine integration with the main speakers. The maximum sound level reaches 122 dB, and the input impedance is 9 kohms. A front panel groups together the volume, gain, phase and sound mode controls, with three distinct profiles: Cinema, Music and Boost, allowing the subwoofer's behaviour to be adapted according to the type of content being listened to.

What to check before buying used
The 40 cm driver and its suspensions bear significant mechanical stress at low frequencies: sagging or tearing of the surround, often linked to intensive use or damp storage, results in rumbling or a loss of control in the deep bass. The Class D amplifier module, as well as the bass-reflex port tuned to 18 Hz, are worth testing at moderate volume for several minutes to rule out any thermal protection noise or unwanted standby triggering. It is also worth checking that the front panel controls (volume, gain, phase, Cinema/Music/B modes) work properly and that there is no play or loose contact on the potentiometers.
