Description
The Davis Delta 2 5.1 is a complete home cinema set made up of five satellite speakers and an active subwoofer, designed to equip a compact surround installation. Manufactured by Davis Acoustics, it combines small satellite speakers with a separate subwoofer tasked with reproducing the system's low frequencies.
Each satellite is a 2-way sealed-box speaker, pairing a 100 mm braided Kevlar bass-midrange driver with a 25 mm fabric dome tweeter. This configuration delivers a sensitivity of 89 dB at an impedance of 8 Ω, with a stated frequency response of 150 Hz to 20 kHz: the satellites therefore cover the midrange and treble, with the handover to the bass handled by the subwoofer. The active subwoofer houses a 25 cm paper woofer powered by a 100 W amplifier (200 W dynamic), for a frequency response of 40 to 160 Hz. It features crossover adjustment over the 40-160 Hz range and phase adjustment between 0 and 180°, allowing the bass integration with the satellites to be fine-tuned according to the room configuration.

What to check before buying used
On the satellites, check the condition of the Kevlar cones and fabric tweeter domes, which can sometimes be dented or detached following careless storage, as well as the gloss white finish, which is prone to chips and yellowing. On the active subwoofer, test the built-in amplifier and check that the crossover and phase controls respond properly across their full range, as a dirty potentiometer can cause crackling. Finally, make sure the 25 cm woofer shows no worn suspension or excessive play, signs of a component weakened through use.
