Description
The Dufy is a 2-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker designed and manufactured in France by Davis Acoustics. Compact in size, it can be installed on dedicated stands or in a bookcase, for close-range stereo listening in a small to medium-sized room.
The 13 cm Kevlar-cone mid-woofer follows on from the brand's 13KLV5 transducer, renowned for the precision of its midrange. It is paired with a 25 mm coated fabric dome tweeter, with a crossover frequency set at 3,500 Hz between the two drivers. The 90 dB sensitivity and 8 Ω impedance (6 Ω minimum) allow pairing with moderately powerful amplifiers, with a power handling of 80 W RMS (110 W peak). The frequency response extends from 50 Hz to 20 kHz.

What to check before buying used
On this compact bass-reflex design, check the seal of the 13 cm driver's suspension: hardened, cracked or detached foam or rubber affects the bass response. Inspect the fabric tweeter dome, which is prone to dents and marks from handling, and check the bass-reflex port to ensure it is neither blocked nor cracked. Finally, examine the cabinet and Armagnac finish: veneer chips, corner separation or signs of moisture damage are particularly noticeable on this type of compact enclosure.
