Description
The Krypton 10 is a 3-way floorstanding speaker from the Davis range, designed to cover the entire sound spectrum with four drivers spread across three separate filters. It is installed against the front wall, connected directly to a hi-fi system, without any dedicated intermediate electronics.
The bass is handled by two 21 cm woofers in cellulose pulp, paired with a laminar port that promotes extension into the low frequencies. The frequency response spans from 32 to 24,000 Hz (+/- 3 dB), with crossover frequencies set between 400 and 4,000 Hz, dividing the work between the woofer, the 13 cm Kevlar midrange and the 28 mm fabric tweeter. The 93.5 dB sensitivity delivers a high sound level with moderate amplification power, while the impedance ranging from 4 to 8 ohms requires an amplifier capable of handling this range. The power handling, from 100 W nominal to 250 W peak, places this speaker among models able to cope with pronounced dynamic peaks.
With dimensions of 108 x 23 x 35 cm and a weight of 28 kg, the Krypton 10 is designed for large rooms, where it can be paired with high-end electronics to make the most of its full frequency response.

What to check before buying used
The surrounds of the two 21 cm woofers deserve a visual and tactile check, as these are the parts that age fastest on a speaker of this size and weight. Also check the condition of the tweeter fabric, which is prone to dents and tears, as well as the state of the Kevlar midrange, less fragile but sometimes marked by handling knocks. A test at moderate volume across the full frequency range will help identify any unwanted noises or imbalance between the two speakers.
