Description
The Krypton 6 is a 3-way floorstanding speaker with bass-reflex loading, designed to reproduce the full sound spectrum with three dedicated drivers: a tweeter for the treble, a midrange for vocals and the central register, and a woofer for the bass. It received the Diapason d'Or in September 2021, an award given by the specialist audio press.
The 28 mm fabric tweeter handles the high frequencies, while the 13 cm Kevlar midrange takes care of vocal and instrument reproduction in the crossover zone between 400 Hz and 4,000 Hz. The 13 cm cellulose pulp woofer relies on bass-reflex loading with a laminar port to extend the bass response down to 45 Hz, with an overall frequency response spanning 45 Hz to 24 kHz. With a sensitivity of 91 dB and an impedance of between 4 and 8 Ω, it can be driven by a nominal power of 100 W (150 W peak), allowing use with both valve and transistor amplifiers.

What to check before buying used
The woofer surrounds deserve close inspection: the foam or fabric edge can harden, crack or come away over time, affecting bass performance. Also check the condition of the cabinet (veneer, corners, chips) and confirm there is no play or unwanted noise from the Kevlar midrange or fabric tweeter by gently pressing on the diaphragm. A check at moderate volume across the full frequency range will help detect any potential internal wiring or crossover fault.
