Denon AVC-A1H

The AVC-A1H is a high-end audio-video receiver from Denon, designed and manufactured in Japan. It features 15 amplification channels and allows for a multichannel configuration of up to 9.4.6 speakers, designed to recreate an immersive home cinema sound experience.

Each channel delivers 150 W into 8 ohms according to the manufacturer's technical specifications, with a power output of 210 W per channel stated elsewhere, supported by a power supply sized for the 15 power amplifier stages and a rigid chassis. Bi-amping is possible, and ISF certification together with Audyssey MultEQ XT32 allow precise calibration of the sound and picture according to the listening room. On the video side, the unit supports 8K/60 and 4K/120 HDMI with eARC and CEC, HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, Dynamic HDR and BT.2020 pass-through on all HDMI ports, as well as an HDMI-to-HDMI scaler up to 8K. Audio formats cover Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, DTS HD Master, DTS Neural:X, DTS Virtual:X, Dolby Surround, Dolby Height Virtualization, IMAX Enhanced and Auro 3D. Network connectivity adds HEOS Multiroom, Wi-Fi, two-way Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Roon compatibility and TuneIn internet radio, with voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri.

Connections include 7 inputs and 3 outputs of HDMI 2.1, 6 analogue stereo RCA inputs, one stereo XLR input, one MM phono input, 2 optical and 2 coaxial inputs, 2 analogue multiroom outputs for zones 2 and 3, 15.4 multichannel pre-amplifier outputs, 4 XLR subwoofer outputs and a front USB input.

This model is aimed at ambitious home cinema installations, with numerous speakers to drive, a phono source to integrate and a need for extensive 8K HDMI connectivity for several video sources.
