The Denon AVR-X2900H DAB is a 7.2-channel audio-video receiver designed to drive a complete home cinema installation, from speaker amplification to video source management. It integrates Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding to deliver three-dimensional surround sound, along with multiroom audio streaming via HEOS and AirPlay 2, allowing listening to be extended to other rooms fitted with speakers or a compatible system.
The unit delivers an output power of 95 watts into 8 ohms and 125 watts into 6 ohms, spread across 7 amplification channels, allowing a complete multichannel configuration without an external amplifier. The HDMI connectivity supports 8K/60 and 4K/120, with CEC and eARC handling, as well as HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, Dynamic HDR and BT.2020 pass-through on all ports, useful for preserving the picture quality of recent sources connected to a compatible television or projector. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 calibration, together with the supplied microphone, measures the response of each speaker to adjust level, delay and balance according to the listening room.
This model is aimed at those wishing to build or expand a multichannel home cinema installation, with several speakers and a 4K or 8K video source, without multiplying separate units. DAB compatibility and the FM tuner also make it a central point for radio listening, alongside network streaming via Wi-Fi, two-way Bluetooth or TuneIn internet radio.

What to check before buying used
On this receiver, test each power channel across all 7 channels to rule out any hum, buzz or dropout linked to ageing capacitors. Check the memory of the Audyssey settings and the presence of the calibration microphone, as well as the correct operation of all HDMI ports in 4K/120 and eARC. Checking the speaker outputs and the volume knob is also recommended to detect a crackling potentiometer.
