The Denon DNP-3000NE is a manual direct-drive turntable, designed for playing 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm records. It is aimed at listeners seeking a precise vinyl source, featuring a die-cast aluminium platter and an ebony wood chassis.
The direct-drive system relies on a 16-pole, 12-coil brushless DC motor, paired with a power control algorithm that stabilises the voltage delivered to the motor: the turntable quickly reaches its rotational speed and maintains it with a precision of ± 0.3%, for wow and flutter below 0.06%. The S-shaped tonearm, statically balanced and 244 mm long, optimises the groove tracking angle; it is height-adjustable by 9 mm at its base to adapt the stylus angle depending on the cartridge used, MM or MC. Anti-skating is adjustable from 0 to 3 g, and height-adjustable isolating feet limit resonances transmitted to the chassis.

What to check before buying used
On this direct-drive model, check the smoothness of the DC motor and the absence of noise or jerkiness on start-up. Check that the height adjustment of the tonearm at its base works properly, as well as the behaviour of the anti-skating across its full 0 to 3 g range. Also examine the condition of the ebony wood chassis and the adjustable isolating feet, which are prone to knocks and wear over time.
