Description
The Denon PMA-900HNE is a stereo integrated amplifier fitted with a HEOS network function. It combines a high-current amplification design with analogue and digital inputs, including a Phono input, to reproduce vinyl sources as well as digital sources or TV sound.
Its power output reaches 2 x 50 watts into 8 ohms and 2 x 85 watts into 4 ohms, allowing it to drive speakers that are more demanding on current. Total harmonic distortion of 0.01% and a signal-to-noise ratio of 105 dB testify to a clean reproduction, while the Phono input shows a signal-to-noise ratio of 86 dB in MM and 71 dB in MC. On the connectivity side, the unit incorporates Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirPlay 2, as well as support for DSD64 and DSD128 streaming and PCM signals up to 24-bit/192 kHz via its three optical inputs and coaxial input. Voice control is compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri.

What to check before buying used
On this type of integrated amplifier, it is worth checking the behaviour of the volume, tone and balance potentiometers for any crackling, as well as the proper operation of the A/B speaker selector. The MM/MC Phono input is worth testing with a vinyl source to confirm the absence of hum or level loss. It is also advisable to make sure the network functions (Wi-Fi, HEOS, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2) connect normally, as these electronic modules can age differently from the rest of the circuit.
