Description
The Contour 30i is a rear-ported bass-reflex floorstanding speaker, designed with a 2.5-way topology. It belongs to Dynaudio's Contour i range and is intended for domestic hifi use as a main speaker.
The 28 mm Esotar2i tweeter incorporates an internal Hexis dome, a technology also found in the Confidence range and in the Core series intended for studio monitors. Combined with an enlarged rear chamber, this assembly helps reduce unwanted resonances and smooth out the response in the high frequencies. The two 18 cm MSP woofers rely on an aramid fibre spider suspension, featuring ribs of varying width that refine control over the cone excursion. The frequency response spans from 32 Hz to 23 kHz (± 3 dB), with a sensitivity of 87 dB (2.83 V / 1 m) and an impedance of 4 Ω. The crossover frequency sits at 300 Hz and 2200 Hz, with a 2nd-order filter topology, and the speaker accepts an IEC power handling of 300 W.

What to check before buying used
On this model, the aramid fibre spider suspension holding the MSP woofers deserves particular attention: check for tears, sagging or excessive cone play. Also check the condition of the Esotar2i tweeter, dome and protective grille, as well as the cleanliness of the bass-reflex ports at the rear. A test at moderate volume can help identify any unwanted noise or localised distortion from either of the two woofers.
