Description
The Evoke 30 is a two-and-a-half-way floorstanding speaker, designed by Dynaudio to equip a living room with a pair of speakers capable of covering a wide sound spectrum without resorting to a separate subwoofer. Its bass-reflex operation, with a port placed at the rear, aims to reinforce bass extension while keeping a contained cabinet size.
The Cerotar tweeter is a 28 mm soft dome with precision coating, whose design is derived from the brand's Special Forty and Confidence series; its motor system combines strontium carbonate, ferrite and ceramic magnets, which contributes to improved sensitivity. The two 14 cm woofers are made of MSP, a diaphragm material developed by Dynaudio and used in its drivers for several decades for low-frequency reproduction. The crossover frequency is set at 1,200/2,300 Hz with a second-order filter topology, with the stated frequency response extending from 40 Hz to 23 kHz (± 3 dB). With a sensitivity of 88 dB (2.83 V / 1 m), an impedance of 4 Ω and an IEC power handling of 200 W, the speaker can be paired with a moderately powered amplifier for everyday domestic use.
This model is aimed at a listener wishing to set up a pair of floorstanding speakers in a living room or listening room, for music as well as stereo home cinema use, rather than a compact bookshelf format.

What to check before buying used
With this type of bass-reflex speaker, it is worth checking the condition of the suspensions on both MSP woofers, which can stiffen or crack over time, as well as the state of the Cerotar tweeter dome, which is sensitive to impacts. Also check that the rear port is not blocked or damaged, and listen to each speaker separately to detect any unwanted noise or imbalance between the two channels.
