Description
The Evoke 50 is a three-way floorstanding speaker from the Danish brand Dynaudio, designed to equip a stereo installation or a high-end home cinema system. It is built on a bass-reflex architecture with rear port, combining a soft dome tweeter, a midrange driver and two woofers, spread across three separate crossover circuits.
The 28 mm Cerotar tweeter with precision coating is directly derived from the brand's Special Forty and Confidence series. Its motor system uses strontium carbonate ferrite and ceramic magnets, intended to improve driver sensitivity. The 15 cm midrange, built in MSP and derived from the Contour range, handles midrange and low-midrange frequencies, while the two 18 cm woofers, also in MSP, are stated to deliver an extended frequency response and good dynamics in the bass. The crossover topology combines a third-order filter and a second-order filter, with crossover frequencies at 430 Hz and 3500 Hz. The speaker offers a sensitivity of 87 dB (2.83 V / 1 m), an impedance of 4 Ω with a minimum of 3 Ω at 100 Hz, a frequency response at ±3 dB of 35 Hz to 23 kHz and an IEC power handling of 260 W.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is advisable to check the condition of the MSP diaphragms of the woofers and midrange, which should show no tears or visible deformation, as well as the integrity of the Cerotar tweeter's soft dome, which is sensitive to impact and denting. Checking the rear bass-reflex port and the finish of the cabinet, along with a progressive volume test across the entire stated frequency range, helps ensure there is no distortion or play in the driver suspensions.
