Description
The FS 607 CE is a 3.5-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker designed by ELAC. It is installed as the main speaker of a stereo system or a home cinema system, in left and right channels.
The top of the spectrum is handled by a JET folded ribbon tweeter, complemented by a 50/105 mm flat diaphragm ring radiator midrange in Nomex. The bottom of the spectrum relies on two 18 cm woofers with AS-XR sandwich cones, paired with a dual bass-reflex port. A selector allows the balance between the tweeters and the midrange to be adjusted, to tailor the sound according to the room's acoustics. With a sensitivity of 89 dB and a nominal impedance of 4 Ω, this speaker requires an amplifier capable of delivering sufficient current. A 4-Pi super-tweeter option can also be fitted in addition.

What to check before buying used
The JET ribbon tweeter and ring radiator midrange are delicate transducers: check for any deformation of the ribbon and the integrity of the Nomex diaphragm before purchasing. Also check the condition of the two AS-XR woofers, in particular the suppleness of the suspensions and the absence of any parasitic noise during a test at moderate volume. The tweeter/midrange balance selector should be operated to ensure it shows no crackling or loose contact.
