Description
The LS 70 II is a speaker stand designed by ELAC to accommodate compact speakers in a stereo or home cinema setup. Conceived as a universal stand, it raises speakers to the optimal listening height while offering a stable and aesthetic base thanks to its cast-iron plinth finished in ELAC's metallic titanium colourway.
The aluminium profile that makes up the stand's column features front and central chambers that can be filled with sand. This filling option increases the mass and therefore the stability of the assembly, reducing parasitic vibrations that could colour the sound reproduced by the speaker placed on top.
The LS 70 II is offered with two sizes of top plate, allowing it to adapt to different compact speaker formats, including the ELAC 310.2 JET model as well as other speakers with dimensions between 170 and 220 mm in width and depth. The speaker is fixed to the plate using spikes, with small protective plates designed to protect the cabinet's veneer from potential scratches.
This stand is aimed at hi-fi enthusiasts who own compact bookshelf speakers and wish to give them a dedicated stand that is both stable and suited to the dimensions of their models, rather than an improvised solution on a piece of furniture or a shelf.
What to check before buying used
The metallic titanium finish on the cast-iron plinth is prone to chips and micro-scratches: examining it from several angles helps reveal handling marks. Check that the filling chambers have never been filled and then poorly resealed, which can leave residual sand or unbalance the column. Also check for the presence and condition of the protective plates beneath the fixing spikes, as well as the flatness of the top plate corresponding to the size required.
