Description
The ELAC MicroSUB 2010 BT is a very small-format amplified subwoofer, designed to complete a supplementary listening system. Beneath its reduced volume lies built-in electronics capable of driving both the subwoofer itself and associated satellite speakers.
Its distinctive feature lies in the integration of four separate amplifiers: two dedicated to the subwoofer's internal woofers, and two others reserved for the connected satellites. This architecture allows the entire system to be driven from a single unit, without requiring a separate amplifier for the satellite speakers.
The MicroSUB 2010 BT also features a Bluetooth interface in A2DP format, allowing wireless streaming from a laptop, an MP3 player or a mobile phone. This function makes it a subwoofer also designed for portable or occasional use, without complex cabling.

What to check before buying used
The original Bluetooth A2DP can be temperamental with recent devices: a pairing test is advisable before purchase. Also check that all four internal amplifiers work without hiss or dropouts, both on the subwoofer and on the satellite output, and that the internal woofers show no sagging or unwanted noise at high volume. The connectors on the associated 301.2 speakers also warrant a check, as this small unit is used continuously in portable applications.
