The Elipson Architect IC8 Ultra Slim is an in-wall/in-ceiling speaker belonging to the Architect IN range. It stands out for its shallow depth, designed to fit into ceilings or walls offering little available space behind the mounting surface.
This speaker adopts a 3-way configuration, combining three 7.5 cm woofers in cellulose fibre, a 7.5 cm midrange/woofer and a 20 mm silk dome tweeter. What to check before buying used
The surrounds of the three woofers, in fabric or foam depending on the age of the unit, must remain supple and free of cracks or sagging, otherwise air leaks and a loss of bass control may occur. The tweeter's silk dome, highly exposed when removing the unit from a ceiling or wall, should be visually checked for any dents or tears. The supplied magnetic grille must be present and complete, as its fixing magnets weaken over time, and its original paint or any repainting must not obstruct the acoustic perforations.
