Description
The Horus 6B Active BT is an active bookshelf speaker from Elipson, designed to operate on its own, without an external amplifier. It integrates amplification and wireless connectivity directly, allowing it to be connected to a turntable, a television or a smartphone without any other equipment.
This is a 2-way speaker with an MDF cabinet, bass-reflex loading and a front-firing laminar port. It features a 13 cm midrange/woofer with a cellulose pulp and fibreglass cone, paired with a 25 mm soft silk dome tweeter with neodymium magnet. The amplification delivers 2 x 50 W RMS for a stated frequency response of 55 Hz to 22 kHz.
The connectivity is particularly comprehensive for this type of active speaker: Aux input, MM Phono input, USB Audio input, coaxial and optical digital inputs at 24-bit/192 kHz, HDMI ARC input for connection to a television, as well as Bluetooth 5.0 with APTX HD codec. A subwoofer output with 150 Hz filtering (12 dB/Oct) also allows a subwoofer to be added.

What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the surrounds on the 13 cm midrange/woofer: hardened or cracked cellulose pulp indicates humid storage and affects bass reproduction. Inspect the front bass-reflex port and the MDF cabinet for knocks, chipped finish or signs of moisture. Systematically test the MM Phono and HDMI ARC inputs as well as Bluetooth pairing, as an oxidised potentiometer or digital socket will show up as crackling or dropouts.
