Description
The Elipson Horus 6B is a passive 2-way bookshelf speaker, designed to fit into either a stereo installation or a home cinema system. Its compact MDF cabinet houses a bass-reflex loading with front-firing laminar port, a solution that supports bass reproduction despite the reduced format.
The 130 mm midrange/woofer combines a cellulose pulp cone coated with fibreglass, while the 25 mm soft dome silk tweeter uses a neodymium magnet, a choice that allows for a compact and lightweight magnet while retaining good magnetic performance. Crossover occurs at 3000 Hz, dividing the work between the two drivers. The frequency response extends from 55 Hz to 22 kHz, with a sensitivity of 87 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms (6.4 ohms minimum), values which determine how easily an amplifier will be able to drive it. What to check before buying used
With this type of bass-reflex speaker, the front port and laminar vent are worth a visual check to rule out any deformation or cracking. The cellulose pulp and fibreglass cone of the midrange/woofer should be examined for any signs of sagging or tearing at the suspension. It is also worth checking that the tweeter's soft silk dome is neither dented nor punctured, as this component is particularly sensitive to impact.
