Description
The Elipson Premium Sub 10 is an active subwoofer designed to complement a stereo or multichannel setup without taking up excessive floor space. Its bass-reflex design with front-firing port allows it to be placed against a wall without compromising performance, making it easier to integrate into a living room.
The 250 mm fibreglass woofer is paired with 300 W class D amplification, a combination aimed at delivering a fast and controlled bass response. The frequency response spans from 27 Hz to 200 Hz (±3 dB), with a subsonic filter at 26 Hz (12 dB/octave) that protects the woofer from frequencies too low to be reproduced correctly. An internal DSP applies a targeted +3 dB boost at 30 Hz, intended to reinforce deep bass without artificially colouring the entire bandwidth. The front-firing port features an internal baffle, designed to limit air turbulence and chuffing noise at high output levels.
Available adjustments cover phase (0° or 180°) and crossover frequency, adjustable between 40 and 200 Hz, allowing the subwoofer to be tuned to main speakers of different sizes and sensitivities. The L/R and LFE line inputs and outputs offer compatibility with both a home cinema receiver and a classic stereo system. Automatic standby switches the unit off in the absence of a signal.

What to check before buying used
The suspension of the 250 mm woofer deserves close inspection: check for creaking or visible sagging, which would indicate wear of the basket or the fibreglass cone. Also check that the DSP and built-in subsonic filter work correctly, and that there is no chuffing noise or unwanted vibration from the front-firing port at full power. Finally, test the phase and crossover frequency controls, whose potentiometers or rotary knobs can become unreliable with age.
