Description
The Prestige 3i is a 3-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker designed by the French brand Elipson. It is placed at the front of a stereo or home cinema system to reproduce the full sound spectrum, from bass to treble, using a configuration of three separate drivers.
The floorstanding speaker features two 17 cm paper-cone woofers, one dedicated to bass and the other to midrange, complemented by a tweeter for the treble. This three-way arrangement allows each driver to operate over a narrower frequency range, which limits distortion, particularly in the midrange. The bass-reflex loading, combined with reinforced internal walls, aims to contain cabinet resonances while adding inertia to the bass.
This high sensitivity and 8 Ω impedance make the Prestige 3i compatible with amplifiers of modest power, without requiring oversized electronics to achieve a comfortable sound level.
With a height of 1005 mm, this floorstanding speaker is suited to medium to large living rooms or listening rooms, where it can occupy a fixed position on the floor. Its 3-way configuration and dynamic bass suit varied musical listening as well as home cinema use at the front.

What to check before buying used
The suspensions of the two 17 cm woofers deserve close inspection: hardened, cracked or detached foam or rubber affects bass and midrange performance. Also check the speaker's cabinet, particularly the bottom of the enclosure and the bass-reflex ports, for any impact damage, veneer misalignment or signs of moisture from floor use. Finally, a listening test across the full frequency range helps identify any unwanted noise or localised distortion in one of the three ways.
