Description
The Prestige Facet II 14C is a 2-way centre speaker from Elipson, designed to complement the bookshelf and floorstanding speakers of the Prestige Facet II range within a home cinema setup. Its role is to ensure the reproduction of dialogue and sound effects located at the centre of the image, in tonal coherence with the rest of the speaker range.
The speaker relies on a bass-reflex enclosure with two vertical laminar ports on the front baffle, paired with two 170 mm midrange-woofer drivers fitted with a central metal ogive. This ogive improves control of cone movement and limits turbulence, thereby reducing distortion and refining vocal reproduction. A 25 mm soft dome tweeter completes the system for treble reproduction, with a frequency response extending from 43 Hz to 25 kHz (± 3 dB). With a sensitivity of 93 dB/1W/1m and an impedance of 6 ohms, the speaker is relatively easy to drive, with a recommended amplification power between 40 and 200 W and a continuous power handling of 150 W RMS. Each driver is surrounded by a custom-cut synthetic rubber surround, intended to limit baffle-step effects and diffraction in order to achieve a more linear response curve.

What to check before buying used
On this type of centre speaker, it is worth checking the condition of the bass-reflex ports on the front baffle as well as the stiffness and integrity of the midrange-woofer cones, particularly around the central metal ogive. Checking the voice coils and internal crossover (capacitors, resistors, inductors) helps confirm the absence of crackling or level loss on either channel. The synthetic rubber surround around the drivers also deserves a visual inspection, as it directly contributes to the linearity of the frequency response.
