Description
The Rain 6 100V is a floorstanding speaker from Elipson, designed for outdoor installation. IP66 certified, it resists splashes and UV rays and operates within a temperature range of -25°C to +70°C, with humidity tolerance tested up to 95% at -40°C. It can be installed on a patio, in a garden or a conservatory thanks to its 180° adjustable mounting bracket.
The speaker pairs a 25 mm silk dome tweeter with a 165 mm polypropylene cone midrange-woofer. Used with a conventional amplifier at 8 ohms, it accepts a power of 120 watts and covers a frequency response of 80 Hz to 20 kHz, with a sensitivity of 89 dB. It is also compatible with 100V and 70V PA systems, which helps limit signal loss over long cable runs.
In 100V mode, power can be set to 5, 10, 20 or 40 watts; in 70V mode, to 2.5, 5, 10 or 20 watts. This flexibility allows the sound level to be tailored to the venue's configuration, whether for occasional playback or a permanent installation connected to a centralised PA system.

What to check before buying used
On an outdoor speaker, the sealing of the enclosure is the key point: check for the absence of cracks on the cabinet and the condition of the seals around the woofer and the tweeter, which are essential to the IP66 certification. Also check the adjustable mounting bracket, whose hinge and fixings may have seized up or corroded after prolonged exposure to the elements. Finally, test the operation of both power modes (100V/70V) to rule out any fault on the selector or the internal line transformer.
