Description
The Sonos Five is a connected speaker designed for music streaming, multiroom playback and connecting external analogue sources via its local 3.5 mm input: a turntable, CD player or projector can thus be integrated directly into the Sonos system. It is controlled via the Sonos app and supports AirPlay 2 for streaming from an Apple device.
Its acoustic configuration relies on three tweeters: two placed on the sides and precisely angled to widen spatial extension and enrich stereo rendering, and a third at the centre dedicated to optimising vocals. Positioned horizontally, the speaker automatically distributes the left and right channels to deliver stereo sound from a single unit. The Trueplay function also allows the sound to be calibrated according to the specific acoustics of the room in which it is installed.
By pairing two Five speakers positioned vertically, each automatically switches to mono to form a stereo pair offering more pronounced channel separation and a wider sound spectrum.
This model is aimed at users wishing to combine streaming playback with physical sources, vinyl, CDs, within a single multiroom system, either solo or in a pair for a wider stereo setup.

What to check before buying used
With this type of connected speaker, it is worth checking that Wi-Fi and pairing with the Sonos app work correctly, as well as proper recognition via AirPlay 2.
