Description
The F1-10S is a 2-way floorstanding speaker from Fyne Audio, built around a 250 mm IsoFlare point source driver paired with a 75 mm titanium dome compression tweeter. This type of coaxial configuration aims to align the bass and treble emission points in space, for a coherent sound image regardless of where you are in the listening room.
The cabinet features a bass-reflex loading with a downward-firing port, fitted with a Tractrix BassTrax diffuser, with a stated frequency response of 28 Hz to 26 kHz (-6 dB typical in room). The bi-wireable low-loss passive crossover combines a second-order low-pass and high-pass filter, with cryogenically treated components; the crossover frequency is 750 Hz. The 94 dB/W/m sensitivity and 8-ohm nominal impedance allow the F1-10S to be paired with a wide range of amplifiers, from 20 to 280 W RMS recommended, from triode valve models to more powerful transistor stages. Two front-panel potentiometers allow adjustment of high-frequency energy (750 Hz - 26 kHz) and presence (2.5 kHz - 5.0 kHz), each over a range of ±3 dB, to tailor the sound to the room's acoustics.

What to check before buying used
Check the condition of the 250 mm IsoFlare driver's suspension (cracks, sagging or unusual stiffness) as well as the absence of play or rubbing noise in the coaxial motor. Inspect the titanium dome of the compression tweeter, which is sensitive to knocks and denting. Examine the cabinet and the Tractrix diffuser of the BassTrax port for cracks, chipped finish or warping, and test that the front-panel HF energy and presence potentiometers work properly, as they are often prone to crackling with age.
