The EverSolo AMP-F2 is a stereo Class D power amplifier, designed in collaboration with Starke Sound around this brand's NS600 amplification module. It is intended to complement an existing system, preamplifier, DAC or digital source, by providing the power stage needed to drive passive speakers.
The unit delivers 2 x 145 W into 8 ohms or 2 x 250 W into 4 ohms in stereo configuration, and can be bridged to operate in mono, where it then rises to 450 W into 2 ohms. This ability to maintain high power into low impedance loads (4 ohms, 2 ohms) allows it to drive speakers whose impedance drops in the bass region, without the amplifier showing signs of strain. What to check before buying used
On this bridgeable Class D module, the sensitive points are the SAPS switch-mode power supply and the trigger connectors: a unit that has undergone repeated mono bridging cycles may show premature wear of the power components. Check for the absence of background noise or distortion at low volume, a possible sign of ageing capacitors, as well as the tightness of the RCA and XLR speaker terminals after transport. The natural ventilation of the compact chassis also requires checking that no signs of overheating or yellowing appear near the vents.
