Focal 100 ICLCR5

The 100 ICLCR5 is an in-ceiling speaker designed by Focal to integrate into the ceiling of a Home Cinema installation, complementing classic or wall-mounted speakers. It can occupy five distinct positions in a multichannel configuration: front left, centre, front right, or rear left and right channels. It is also suitable for large rooms lacking a rear wall opposite the listening position.

The speaker is built on a 2-way sealed-box architecture, combining two 13 cm drivers with a Polyglass diaphragm and an inverted-dome 25 mm aluminium tweeter, along with a 21 cm passive radiator. The tweeter can be angled on the horizontal and vertical axes, allowing sound to be precisely directed towards the listening position even when the speaker is ceiling-mounted. A specific filter improves off-axis listening and limits what Focal calls the "shower effect", the sensation of sound being localised only directly beneath the driver. A left-centre-right selector adjusts the response according to the position occupied in the system, and the treble level can be set to three positions (-3 dB, 0 dB, +3 dB).

With a sensitivity of 92 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 Ω (4.6 Ω minimum), it accepts amplification power ranging from 25 to 120 W. Its frequency response extends from 65 Hz to 23 kHz at ±3 dB, with a low-end cut-off at -6 dB fixed at 55 Hz.

This model is aimed at Home Cinema enthusiasts wishing to increase the number of playback channels without adding visible floor- or wall-mounted speakers, particularly for rear channels or to complement an existing front configuration. The unibody chassis and frameless magnetic grilles allow discreet integration into the ceiling.
