Description
The 1000 ICW6 is an in-wall speaker by Focal, designed to disappear entirely into a wall or ceiling while delivering high-level stereo or home cinema listening. Made in France, it belongs to the manufacturer's 1000 Series line and is aimed at installations where visual discretion is paramount without compromising sound quality.
It features a midrange/woofer driver fitted with Focal's signature "W" cone, paired with an inverted dome tweeter in pure Beryllium measuring 25 mm. This tweeter is orientable, allowing the sound dispersion to be adjusted according to the listening position in the room. In terms of measurements, a sensitivity of 89 dB (2.83 V/1 m) and a nominal impedance of 8 Ω, with a minimum of 4.9 Ω, make it compatible with a recommended amplification power of between 25 and 150 W. The frequency response ranges from 55 Hz to 40 kHz (±3 dB), with a low-end cut-off at 45 Hz (-6 dB).
The speaker is supplied with two types of magnetic grilles, one round, one square, allowing its aesthetic integration to be adapted according to the décor. Mounting relies on the Easy Quick Install system, with orientation handles that allow the speaker to be fixed to the frame without tools, along with rear dust protection.

What to check before buying used
For a used purchase, it is worth checking the condition of the Beryllium tweeter, a thin material sensitive to impacts, as well as the flexibility of the "W" midrange/woofer cone, which should show no tearing or deformation. The tweeter's orientation mechanism is also worth checking, as is the presence of both magnetic grilles and the Easy Quick Install fixing system, essential for correct refitting into the wall or ceiling.
