Description
The 1000 IW6 is a closed-box speaker designed to be built into a wall or ceiling, offering a discreet alternative to traditional floorstanding or stand-mounted speakers. It is particularly suited to the rear channels of a Home Cinema installation, providing sound diffusion without any visual presence in the room.
It features a 27 mm inverted dome tweeter in pure Beryllium, technology developed by Focal, paired with a 16.5 cm woofer/midrange driver with a "W" cone. The tweeter level is adjustable, allowing the treble reproduction to be tailored to the acoustics of the listening room. Its sensitivity of 88 dB (2.83V/1m) and frequency response of 55 Hz to 40 kHz (+/-3 dB) define its sound behaviour, with a low-end cutoff at 45 Hz (-6 dB). Its nominal impedance of 8 Ω, with a minimum of 7 Ω, makes it compatible with a recommended amplification power of between 25 and 150 W.
This model is aimed at those wishing to build or complete a multichannel Home Cinema installation without multiplying speakers visible on the floor or on stands, particularly for rear or surround channels, while retaining a carefully judged level of sound performance.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the frame and finishing grille, as well as the absence of any deformation or cracks on the "W" cone and on the tweeter dome, the latter being particularly sensitive to impact due to its Beryllium construction. It is also worth checking that the tweeter level potentiometer works without crackling or level jumps, and confirming that the cut-out dimensions (406 x 276 mm) match the opening already prepared in the wall or ceiling, where applicable.
