Description
The Focal 1000 IWLCR6 is a sealed speaker designed to be built into a wall, intended for Home Cinema configurations seeking discreet integration. Manufactured in France, it can be used as a centre, left or right channel depending on the installation's requirements.
It is based on a three-way architecture combining an 18 cm "W" passive radiator, a 16.5 cm "W" woofer, an 8 cm "W" midrange and a 27 mm pure Beryllium inverted dome tweeter. Its midrange-tweeter plate is swivelling and rotatable, allowing precise adjustment of the listening axis once the speaker is built in. The tweeter level is also adjustable, to tailor the sound to the room's acoustic characteristics. With a sensitivity of 91 dB and a frequency response of 48 Hz to 40 kHz, it accepts a recommended amplification power of between 25 and 240 W, for a nominal impedance of 8 Ω.
This model is aimed at those who wish to build a high-performance Home Cinema installation without the speakers being visible in the room, whether for a centre channel or to complete a left/right pair. The magnetic grilles supplied with the product, ready to be painted, allow them to blend into the wall decor.

What to check before buying used
The swivelling midrange-tweeter plate must rotate and lock firmly on its axis, without play or stiff points that would indicate a worn rail. Check that the tweeter level control works across its full range and that the Beryllium dome shows no dents or signs of impact, as this material is particularly fragile. Also examine the passive radiator and the suspensions of the "W" drivers for cracks or sagging, as well as the condition of the in-wall frame and magnetic grilles, which must adhere properly without play.
