Description
The 300 ICA6 is an in-ceiling speaker from Focal, designed to integrate a height channel into a Home Cinema installation. Compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technologies, it reproduces the vertical sound effects specific to 3D sound, as a complement to a 300 Series installation.
The 16.5 cm midbass driver uses a Flax fibre cone, a technology developed by Focal to achieve a natural, low-coloration sound. It is paired with a 25 mm inverted dome tweeter in aluminium/magnesium, oriented towards fine treble reproduction. The assembly is angled at 35°, directing diffusion towards the listening area rather than dispersing it vertically into the room. The frequency response extends from 65 Hz to 28 kHz (+/-3 dB), with a low-end cut-off at 45 Hz (-6 dB), for a sensitivity of 89.5 dB (2.83 V / 1 m). The nominal impedance is 8 Ω, with a minimum of 4.8 Ω, for a recommended amplifier power of between 25 and 130 W.
The EQI (Easy Quick Install) mounting system allows tool-free, screw-free installation, with magnetic grilles, round or square, paintable to suit the room's décor.
This speaker is aimed at those wishing to add one or more height channels to an existing Home Cinema installation, particularly alongside Focal speakers from the 300 series, to achieve three-dimensional sound immersion.

What to check before buying used
On this type of in-ceiling speaker, the magnetic grille is worth checking: the magnets can lose their grip over time and must hold the cover firmly, without play or vibration noise. Also check the condition of the Flax cone on the midbass driver (no tearing, denting or signs of moisture linked to installation in a ventilated room) as well as the integrity of the tweeter dome, which is particularly exposed to impact during removal. The EQI mounting system must still clamp securely against the ceiling to ensure a safe mechanical fit.
