The Focal 300 ICLR5 is a ceiling-mounted speaker for in-ceiling installation, manufactured in France for residential use. Designed as an LCR speaker, it can serve as the front left, centre or right channel, as well as the rear left or right channel, allowing it to cover up to five different positions within the same Home Cinema installation.
Its ceiling mounting is particularly suited to configurations where no rear wall is available to accommodate traditional speakers. Focal states that this speaker is suited to rooms up to 30 m², a point worth considering depending on the size of the room to be equipped.
The 300 ICLR5 features Focal's own technologies, namely the Flax cone and the inverted dome tweeter. The magnetic grille must be present and not warped, and it should be confirmed that the midrange-tweeter module still pivots freely without excessive play at its joint. Checking the driver suspensions and the condition of the decoupling foams helps avoid unwanted noise once the speaker is refitted into the ceiling.
