Description
The Aria Evo X Center is a centre speaker from Focal, designed to take the place of the dialogue channel in a Home Cinema configuration. It was developed to integrate with the Aria Evo X line, with tonal pairing designed to ensure sound continuity with the floorstanding speakers, surround speakers and subwoofer from the same range.
It features Focal's patented Flax cone, a technology intended to deliver a natural sound while adding depth and intelligibility to voices, a key point for a centre speaker dedicated to dialogue. Treble is handled by a TAM inverted dome tweeter in aluminium/magnesium alloy, 25 mm, described as offering harmonic balance and detailed treble. The MDF cabinet, presented as ultra-rigid, limits unwanted vibrations, while a dual rear bass-reflex vent reduces air compression and enhances bass reproduction.
This speaker is intended for those wishing to build or complete a cohesive Home Cinema system, particularly by pairing it with a pair of Aria Evo X floorstanding speakers, an SR 900 surround speaker and a Sub 1000F subwoofer to form a 5.1 configuration. Its purpose remains focused on dialogue clarity and tonal consistency with the rest of the installation, rather than standalone stereo listening.

What to check before buying used
The Flax cone scratches and tears easily if handled roughly: a visual inspection of the woofer and tweeter is essential before any purchase, as is a sound test to rule out a faulty magnet or an off-centre voice coil. Also check the MDF cabinet, particularly the corners and the rear bass-reflex vents, which may show signs of impact or damp from prolonged storage. Finally, checking the connections (terminals, terminal blocks) ensures there is no oxidation or play.
