Focal KANTA N°1

The Kanta N°1 is a bookshelf speaker from the French brand Focal, designed to be placed on a stand or within furniture in listening rooms of less than 25 m². It combines advanced acoustic research with a carefully crafted front baffle design, available in several lacquered or matte finishes, as well as in a walnut wood veneer shell, Walnut High Gloss or Walnut Mat.

The tweeter uses a latest-generation pure Beryllium unit, named IAL3, which combines the principles of IAL (Infinite Acoustic Loading) and IHL (Infinite Horn Loading) rear acoustic loading in order to limit distortion. The midrange and woofer drivers, meanwhile, use the Flax sandwich cone, a flax fibre chosen for its balance between low mass, rigidity and damping, complemented by a TMD (Tuned Mass Damping) suspension on the midrange driver and an NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) motor across all drivers to stabilise the magnetic field and provide better control of the bass.

The front baffle is moulded as a single block from high-density polymer HDP, a material 70% denser than MDF, 15% more rigid and offering 25% additional damping, which eliminates sound diffraction phenomena. Power Flow technology distributes two ports, on the front and rear panels, to limit bass compression; foam can be inserted into the port when the speaker is placed in an enclosed space or close to a wall.

This speaker is aimed at listeners seeking precise, warm stereo listening within an apartment or office space, without requiring a bulky installation, while retaining a strong aesthetic standard for integration into a well-appointed interior.
