Description
The OD Sat 5 is a satellite speaker designed by Focal for permanent outdoor installation. It belongs to the French manufacturer's Littora range and is intended for sound reinforcement in gardens, terraces or pool areas, with wall or ground mounting possible thanks to the supplied brackets.
It combines a 13 cm woofer/midrange driver with an Iris IP membrane and a 2,5 cm inverted dome aluminium tweeter, for a frequency response of 90 Hz to 28 kHz and a sensitivity of 88 dB. Its nominal power of 50 W RMS (100 W peak) and its impedance of 8 ohms pair it with amplifiers of 20 to 100 watts. An integrated transformer makes it compatible with 70/100 V lines, with several power settings (5, 10, 20 or 40 W), which allows several speakers to be connected on the same installation without loss of sound level over long distances. Its 90° dispersion angle and its IP55 certification, combined with a temperature tolerance of -20° to 65°, suit it to outdoor use exposed to the elements.

What to check before buying used
On an outdoor speaker of this type, attention should be paid to the sealing of the grille and enclosure, which guarantees the original IP55 certification: check for cracks or traces of water ingress. The wall or ground mounting bracket deserves a check of its fixing and condition, as these speakers have often been left exposed to the elements over several seasons. It is also advisable to test the operation of the woofer and tweeter, particularly after prolonged outdoor use where humidity can affect the membranes.
